Exotic Wood Cut-Offs 10-Pound Box

Wasnt sure what to expect buying a box of scraps, this definition varies from shop to shop. This was a great purchase. I received several very good pieces of exotic woods that are quite usable for my purposes. Great piece of purple heart and zebra wood and several others all nicely figured. I feel for the price i got more than my moneys worth.

This is by far the best selection of exotic wood cutoffs that I have found. Each piece has a typed label with the species name, so you know what you are getting. I always get a good variety of true exotics, and every order is mostly different. All pieces are planed on both faces, and sometimes jointed on one edge. The pieces are also completely usable with no defects and workable length and width. I have yet to get an order with unusable small scraps, knots, checks or splits. My last order contained Cabreva, Canarywood, Jatoba, Etimoe, Sipo, and Okume. I have gotten a wide variety from this supplier including Purpleheart, Paduk, Zebrawood, Patagonia Rosewood, and Peruvian Walnut. This is a great selection for small projects, knife & tool handles, accent pieces and inlays.

I read the reviews and knew that it would be hit or miss but at worst I would get some woods that I hadn't used before and would see what I got before deciding what I would do with it.When I opened the box I was delighted with what I received. All of the woods were marked. I received a block of beautiful figured lacewood 6x5x2 inches which I made into a beautiful bandsaw box for my daughter's birthday. I also received 6 other pieces varying from 9-11" long. 3.75-5" wide, and all at least 1 inch thick. The woods are Iroko, Coyote, Cunaru, Monterillo, and 2 pieces of Canarywood. The Monterillo and Canarywood really have beautiful grain.Aside from the bandsaw box I have not decided what I will do with the rest of the wood. Perhaps jewelry boxes, accent pieces, maybe a spoon. Really a nice selection that gives me options.

Ordered two boxes on 1/26/23 and received 2 pieces each of African mahogany, zebrawood, padauk, purpleheart, and iroko, plus one smaller piece of bloodwood (see pictures). I hoped for more variety on a double order. If you care more about which woods you will receive then I suggest you ask (Customer Questions and Answers) and order right away when you get a response.Most pieces in my order are 11" long. The African mahogany is ~1-3/4" and the others are ~7/8", meaning I received twice as much African mahogany than any other wood. Some pieces are not fully planed on one side. I'll probably use most of the pieces for small bandsaw boxes. Overall I'm happy enough with the order but the cost/value is on the borderline for me.

I have to say that I am on board with the majority of other people that have written reviews. I was a little worried after ordering it since you never know what to expect with these off cut boxes, but I am super happy. You always have to remember that you are just getting cut offs. Nothing big. If you are into bandsaw boxes. I would totally recommend buying it. If you want to “bling” out those smaller projects.. ya sure go for it. With all that said I have seen other pics of what people got and it was on the skinny pen blank side of things and I don’t turn. so I am glad I got what I got. For now I am a happy camper and would totally roll the dice on one of these boxes again. The variety in wood was awesome with good accenting pieces and it’s always nice to see a piece that has some crazy grain. Job well done guys.

I liked the assortment and quality so much that I ordered 2 more boxes. Great quality and large pieces compared to other assortments I have purchased. Useable for turning bowls or Router type projects. It is an assortment. Very fine wood, but each piece is very different. Pay attention to the weight, this is not a huge amount. I bought 3 because 3 times the price for 3 times the quantity is well worth it. Way cheaper than the mainstream store prices.Second 2 boxes arrived as 1 box of 20 lbs of rather small Pieces, high priced wood but so small I think some buttwad sent me 20 lbs of his/ her scrap. Not going to buy again. Wow, really?

I bought this based on a lot of different reviews stating that everything is packaged well and most of the pieces are finished on one side and one edge and all clearly labeled. Well it was packaged well but the majority of mine is completely unfinished which isn’t a huge deal but none of it is labeled. I can figure out a few pieces but it would have been nice to know exactly what all I had. Other than that most the pieces are workable size and at least cut square.

This was a fantastic purchase, well worth the money.I received a piece of purple heart, 3 pieces of teak, 1 piece of spanish cedar, and 2 pieces of hoduran mohogany. only 2 pieces had any flaws (Minor checking) and could be easily worked around and with. The amount of things I can do with these pieces of wood is immense. The box was packed tightly and all wood was not damaged in shipping.I'll certainly purchase again, thank you.NOTE: This is giftable only if your giving it to a woodworker. Some of the exotic wood is hard on tools and need some knowledge to work properly due to high silica content. Knowledgable woodworkers would love this though.
