These API Filstar pumps are notorious for sucking air after only a few months use. Although I thought mine was bad still had a air leak, after replacing all top end pieces I determined the leak was coming from the 2 pieces that you open up to remove the actual motor to clean the impeller. Cleaned impeller area since I had it a part. Took silicon and went around the printer of the 2 housings paying close attention to where the power cord enters. Let the silicone cure for 24 hour's and reinstalled pump. Nice and quite and no more sucking air!

I bought this product after digging my old Rena xP2 out of my garage to start a new aquarium. The quality of this tubing is superb. Thick and manageable. Kink free.The package contains two 6.5 FT (2 M) pieces of tubing. This set is compatible with the Rena filter models XP1, XP2, XP3 and XP4. Installation into the filter in/out nozzles and pipes took a bit of work, it requires a twisting and pushing motion, it has to be a tight fit to ensure no water leaks, be sure to use safety/tube rings over the tubing to tighten the connections as indicated by your filter instructions.I was able to cut one of the pieces in two to use for both the intake and out of my canister filter. That way I have the other 6.5 FT piece as a reserve; my aquarium stands a little over 4 FT above ground.I strongly recommend this product, nothing beats using original parts, plus with such high quality, the price is just right.By the way, in case you were wondering, the print on the tubing itself reads: RENA 16x21

I was in the middle of setting up a 90 gallon tank with the XP-L filter and all of a sudden when I tried to seal it out came the waterfall spraying everywhere. Needless to say I was not pleased having bought it at a petsmart days before brand new... I ended up deciding that the quick disconnect was the issue and found it on amazon. So happy I was able to overnight it in and it was replaced rather easily. Only reason I can knock a star off is since the rebranding of Rena I feel as if the quality has gone down a bit. The filters are definitely a bit more flimsy with the disconnect now than before. I still love these canister filters though! They are so much better than the hang on back filters for what I want. Also don't bother calling the manufacturer their customer service department is pretty bad.

Good hoses, but they were not kink-free.I purchased 2. Both had kinks on each end. I guess you can cut out the kink, but based on my experience, I DO NOT recommend cutting them because the filter will not work, and by that I mean, it will turn on but it seems that not all of the air is expelled from the filter, so the impeller will not move/circulate the water.I learned this the hard way. Not sure if other brand filters will work with short hoses, but these API filters will not.

LAST IMPELLER KIT I INSTALLED WAS IN 2009!!!! Due to leaks I'm doing some well-deserved maintenance. Package arrived as promised in great shape. My existing impeller assembly came out okay except the rubber foot/bearing which decided to just stay put. Rather than going after it with a sharp object, I slid the shaft and bearing out of the new one, slid my old shaft through the new rotor, everything slid into place, lid clamped back shut like it should, so I took a leap of faith. Using a flashlight I was able to really see all the grungies I had missed while regular filter clean changes. Out come the Q-Tips! Wanted to get it all done perfectly. All is good so far. Everything is purring nicely.

Arrived on time and in perfect condition. Worked perfectly and installs quickly. does not include clamps so be prepared incase one breaks during the install process.

It fit perfectly no leak. Just hope this would last without ceasing to open.

Had to buy this to replace the old impeller on my filstar xp xl. The original impeller exploded when a fish was sucked into the intake after the intake grate had fallen off without me noticing.Super easy to install and got my filter back up and running to normal without any issues.
