Awesome product at a steal of a price!
I've considered buying this for a while, mostly because at the Amazon Add-On price, it's so cheap. But I mostly wear a Jane Iredale eyeshadow palette that stays in place all day long, and I wondered if I really needed it. Recently, though, I got a (free with Ulta purchase) eyeshadow that I really love, but it seems to move into the crease of my eyelid as the day progresses, much more so than my more expensive eyeshadows do. So this primer seemed like it could be an easy solution to that problem.I selected the sheer, so it wouldn't affect the colors of the shadows I already love as-is, and in that sense, it works very well. It blends in easily, and it doesn't appear to lighten the eyeshadows I use. The primer itself goes on smoothly but needs to be blended in a little. I've attached a pic so you can see difference in color between initially applied and blended against my pasty white skin. It's not a large tube at all, and the packaging is deceiving. I won't put the effort into verifying whether it's exactly 0.11 ounces, but as you can see in the attached pic where I've held it under a light, the tube does not arrive fully filled. I imagine I'll go through it pretty quickly, but since e.l.f. products are so ridiculously affordable, I can hardly complain about that. Fact is this stuff works really well, keeps my cheaper eyeshadows in place much longer, doesn't bother my skin or affect my makeup colors except for making them stand out as intended. Definitely worth the steal of a price!

Helps eyeshadow stay all day
Update 3/31/2025 This is still the best eyelid primer for me. I have been using this since at least 2016 according to my Amazon orders. Now I live in the Phoenix area and good primer is essential. Since the last review I have tried a couple others including the new e.l.f. Lock it Down eyeshadow primer - it wasn't as good. A 2025 reviewer said they no longer make this - are you kidding me! Buying a few before the price goes up to $45+ each since it's discontinued. This has been the best eyelid primer for me. I always had trouble with eye shadow lasting until I tried eyelid primer many years ago. I have tried multiple expensive brands but always come back to e.l.f.

Works as well as Urban Decay!
I recently started using e.l.f. cosmetics instead of high end products. The quality of e.l.f. is comparable and the price is dirt cheap! I usually use Urban Decay shadow primer. Elf shadow lock works just as well. The product goes on smoothly, doesn't crease, and gives my shadow staying power. The only reason I gave it 4 stars vs 5 is because it is not labeled. The tube looks like concealer and I have started to put it on as concealer when I was in a rush. I recommend grabbing a permanent marker and labeling it!

Good for the price.
So this is about as light as it appears and that probably doesn't matter a whole lot for a primer. The better question is how it interacts with the eyeshadow. I've used MAC, Clinique, and Urban Decay eyelid primers. I love my urban decay eyelid primer - it's the perfect shade for me.I found this relatively easy to put on and I was able to use a sponge to rub it in so the color almost didn't matter, it just added a slight lightening of the eye. In terms of primer, this gets the job done. I think the Urban Decay is better at keeping my eyeshadow in place and allowing me to blend the way I want to, but for the price, this works. I added a picture of the raw product and it rubbed in a bit on my arm for reference. One last note, like other reviewers, I thought the bottle felt a bit empty. This didn't last very long - again for the price that could be expected, but you'll be purchasing this frequently if you do your make-up daily.

A great item in my makeup kit.
Love it. My eyelids tended to become oily my the middle of the day. now that I use this under my eyeshadow, it doesn't do that anymore.

Not elf quality
Very little quantity in tube. Doesn’t accomplish the goal.
