I am walking again!
I developed pain in the ball of my left foot about two months ago, pretty much out of the blue, suddenly it was there, without any trauma. Initially it was just like a niggling pain, then it became more of a nuisance and it started feeling like walking on a pebble all the time. This really started interfering with my life as I love walking, but walking with this pain was no fun.I researched the Internet and realised that I had "metatarsalgia", and there could be all kind of reasons for this. Thankfully I know a fantastic physiotherapist. I booked an appointment, but there was a bit of a wait. So I decided to buy metatarsal pads.I opted for buying the metatarsal pads by YogaMedic, because the silicone they were made of looked comfortable, the pad covered the whole of the ball of the foot, and there were two loops over the toes to keep the pad in place. When the pads arrived I was surprised how thin they were. But they fitted well, covered the metatarsal area of my foot and stayed in place when walking barefoot, just with socks on, or wearing any of my wide and comfortable shoes. The padding is amazing! Very comfortable and reducing the pain considerably. When I am wearing my work boots I cannot feel any pain whatsoever. I have been able to walk 6000-10000 steps outdoors pretty comfortably. These metatarsal pads from YogaMedic helped me to find comfort until my physiotherapist could see me and give me advice and exercises for my dropped metatarsal head. These pads definitely work! Highly recommended.

Good idea but.....
I bought these for my husband who has bad feet, bunions etc., and at 83 the NHS is not going to sort them out for him, so I tried to find items to help him. i thought these were brilliant at first ,but now after only 2 months, I am down to the last pair as the straps have snapped off so they won't stay on. It was a shame because the idea and comfort were good just needs stringer/thicker straps.

Comfortable and reasonably effective
I bought these to ease pain on the base of my right foot which I believe to be Morton's Neurona, caused by a bunion pressing on toes which in turn put pressure on the sole, making walking very painful.Although packed in pairs, each gel pad can be worn on either foot, which means avoiding wasting money on left foot pads which cannot be used on the right foot or vice versa. These gel pads fit easily into shoes, and can be worn with sandals without socks because the gel forms a band round the foot held in place with a plastic loop which fits round the middle toe, or one to either side depending on preference.Although extremely stretchy, the toe-loop always seems to break eventually, at least for a wearer with a large bunion exerting under pressure on the gel. The pad can still be worn with the broken loop cut off, but has to be adjusted carefully and is prone to slip. In short, this eases the pain but is not a perfect remedy.

They Work!
When these arrived I must admit I was skeptical about how good they'd be as they are very light weight and feel quite flimsy. However, I have worn them daily and they provide so much relief I'm really pleased with them. Having 6 of them is a bonus and it's easy to wash them (warm soapy water) and leave them to air dry. Because they are quite thin they are easy to wear with all footwear without shoes feeling tight. I'm very happy with them.

Comfortable
Cannot feel them after a bit of walking. I can fit them in my walking boots, they are not bulky. Wear socks that fit and they stay on. They really help my sore metatarsals.

Poor
Uncomfortable, move when walking & ineffective

Useless for anything other than sitting still in
The pads themselves were very easy to put on and very comfortable, however they simply rolled up when i tried walking on them for more than a few minutes. Some of the comments mentioned they were great for running, given that they didnt last whilst walking round my house, i wouldnt recommend them for running! If you had sore feet and just needed to get from room to room barefoot without shoes then they'd probably be useful
