Starter 10 Frame Beehive Kit - Includes 2 Hive Bodies, 1 Super Box, Pine Frames, Wax Coated Foundations and More

This is the 3rd set of boxes I've got from this outfit and am impressed and delighted. No missing parts, excellent quality of pine and equipment. The quality of machine work is excellent. The dove tail ends are perfect and slide together easily. Boxes are Screwed together not nailed! I used my nail gun putting together the frames and foundation but they sent nice brass coated tails for the job of assembly and they included a nifty mouse guard and vent cover that I didn't expect. I'll be building my apiary out of these products. Can't beat the price.

Easy to put together

I'm a new beekeeper, and I bought two of these. Assembly of the hive bodies wasn't terribly difficult, though I would strongly recommend pre-drilling holes before driving the nails in, since the wood tends to split otherwise. The instructions aren't terrible, but they're not great, either. As I recall, they just give you an assembly diagram and that's it. I wound up with a whole bunch of nails left over after assembling everything, and I still can't figure out why. I ended up going back and putting more nails in, even though they weren't shown in the instructions.The boxes seem pretty sturdy...I painted mine with a good exterior-grade paint, and I expect them to last a good while. My only gripe would be that some of the boxes weren't completely square, so you can't line everything up perfectly.Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to put everything together. I would say that I probably spent 8 hours per hive, though a lot of that was because I didn't have enough clamps to hold the frames in place while the glue dried. It helps if you have a good workbench for the assembly, too. Also, painting everything takes a while, so budget for that.This kit comes with beeswax-coated plastic foundation for the frames, which the bees seem to like well enough. I also love the way that they smell. Note that the frames don't have any wire supports, so I don't know if that will be a problem if I try to put them in an extractor.All-in-all, I've been very pleased so very and would probably buy again if I decide to expand my apiary.

This is better than the budget grade boxes from another major vendor. Some knots in some key areas, but just pre drill before nailing. Also it must be fir- grain is tight! I could probably leave these sitting without assembly and not worry about warpage, and I don’t have to worry about big cracks like plain pine. Most joints line up really well, frames assemble easily and precise. You really can’t beat this.

value for money excellent

I have quite a few hive parts and piece that my uncle built. As I am expanding in the world of bees, I wanted to buy my own hive set. This went together really well- I used interior/exterior non-toxic wood glue with a stapler. I DID NOT use the nails provided in the kit. Total assembly time (including 30 frames) took about 1.5-2 hours. I plan on a couple of good coats of paint for the exterior pieces and build a stand and it will be ready for some bees.

Very easy to assemble.just a little common since..I would recommend a brad nailer makes it lots easier..only took bout 30 minutes to assemble ..craftsmen ship is awesome..highly recommend this..I will purchase several more ..

The media could not be loaded.  I love my hive. Lots of parts, but easy to assemble. I had a few people that wanted to be involved in the assembly so we had something like a production line going. I also waterproofed mine and stained it. My bees are happy.
