Buy this.
I first bought a Play 1, which is essentially the gateway drug of Sonos products. Once you get a taste of how great it sounds, how easy it is to use and set up, you feel like something is missing. How about stereo? Isn't two better than one? Without hesitation I bought a second one, and it surpassed my expectations. Then I saw the Playbar at Best Buy and again, I couldn't contain myself - 5 speaker surround sound??? There went $700. But still, something was missing... I needed more bass. I admit, I made the wrong decision. Rather than spend $700 on the sub I figured I could solve the bass problem with 2 play 5's as my satellite speakers (and I moved the play 1' to my girlfriends house).Do not make the mistake I did. If I could do it over again here's what I would do: Buy the playbar, next the sub, then finally add the play 1's as satellite speakers. Why? Without getting technical, the playbar isn't made to handle much bass, so when the playbar is trying to produce the entire range of sound the highs get muddled when trying to produce lows. When you add the sub, all the speakers work together to produce deep lows and crisp highs - you'll hear sound definition so real you'll think you're there. Dialogue becomes crystal clear as well. I also would say it broadens the sound field effect you get from the playbar as well.Bottom line, the sonos sub and playbar are a match made in heaven. Buy the sub before investing in other speakers.

If you enjoy Sonos and don't have the sub yet... you are missing out!
I have 2 sonos Moves set in stereo for the main entertainment area that spans the open kitchen to the living room. They sound great together. Although I didn't realize you can't pair the sub with the sonos Move, I just paired it to a sonos One from another room and adjust the mix accordingly. Amazing full sound. Unbelievable.

Worth every penny!
I was worried about paying this much and getting very little bass in return. This was a gift for my wife who always complains about the lack of bass in our Sonos system. She and I were blown away. Will absolutely rattle your windows if you want it too. A must have for Sonos owners.

Anything from Sonos is a hit
It took about 8 minutes to setup up the sub and have it running.Ii took about 3 minutes to get it out of the box, which is wrapped to survive a fall from the 4th floor. and it comes with a cleaning cloth to take your finger smudges. if you use true sound (part of the app) it will do all that geeky stuff for you like setting up the sound in the room. You can also adjust the bass, for me I live in townhouse so I lowered the bass a bit not to tick off the neighbors. I also have the soundbar and 2 Sonos 1s for the rear speakers, 2 Sonos 1s in the kitchen and 2 Sonos 1s in the bedroom. (Also who was the marketing genius at Sonos to name the new speaker Sonos One) With Alexa, and music services from Apple Music, Sirius, and Spotify everything works except Sirius every now and then it stops. I just go to another station and its back. The other music services have no issues. The App is awesome too!

Looks great. Sounds great. Sets up in a minute.
I added the sub to my playbar setup in just a couple minutes. I have it sitting adjacent to the couch and I love cranking the base when we’re watching movies and stuff. It’s really smart how it works as you can have a lot of base but the overall sound in the room is still crystal clear. It’s a great addition to the playbar. But why is it $500+?!?!?

Way better than I expected!
This thing isn't large, but the range and quality of bass is astounding.Yes it is expensive, but it just works and works great. Don't regret it at all. Love that it fits behind furniture and is out of the way.I have sonos in multiple rooms. Including a two Play5s. They have really great range on their own. But the sub brings things to life in a great way.I highly recommend this with the 5.1 setup.

Sounds great and setup was really simple
I love how the Sonos sub sounds. It works really well and setup was very easy. I highly recommend it if you’re in the Sonos ecosystem and can afford it. I have it a 4 star for ease of use because, switching from wireless to wired on just the sub actually messed up my system for a bit. It’s because the Sonos system itself works over its adhoc wireless network and needed the wireless since not everything was wired, but that was unclear to me at first.

Great product that rarely works
I purchased a Playbase a few years ago, and while I had wifi issues from the start, I stupidly ordered this sub to add on. The Playbase had great sound, though setup was a pain in the a**, but I kept naively thinking the hard part was done. Purely because of the Sonos, we changed routers multiple times, despite having zero wifi issues outside of Sonos (though we have various brands of Smart TVs, PCs, Macs, gaming devices, etc). Even after spending 30 minutes here, an hour there to set up the new wifi with Sonos, the sub would mysteriously drop sound, or the Playbase would disappear from the app (the only remote). Finally, we invested in a new mesh system with Asus routers all around the home. It works absolutely beautifully and lightning fast, but guess what? Sonos is incompatible, which I have now learned after spending an additional 3-4 hours trying to sort it out. This nearly $2000 system is now trash. All in all an entire day's worth of hours was invested in this system. Sure, the sound was amazing when it worked, but was it worth it? Hell no.

If you’re reading this, it’s because you’ve fallen in love with Sonos and need more…Is the price worth it? Yes and no and absolutely.I was on the fence and went to the box store to listen to the demo setup and was admittedly disappointed. Had the price been half, it would have been a no brainer and I would have bought it. However, I simple couldn’t justify the cost versus bass increase. In the store, the bass was noticeable but not take my breath away awesome, at least for the cost.Countless YouTube video reviews later, my mind continued to bicker with itself always choking over the cost.As I’ve experienced with Sonos in the past, they sound much different in a box store versus my living room. I love my Sonos but was always left wanting more bottom end.I decided to give it a try, worse case I could return it though I somehow knew I was going to love it. I bought an Amazon Prime used one. It was in near perfect condition except for a scratch on the back, but the savings more than justified the damage which was better than any sale price I've seen. It's was going behind my sofa anyway. The setup is simple as it always is with Sonos. Originally, I paired it with my Sonos Beam and 2 Play 1’s. What you should know is the Sub will reduce the bass output of the other speakers and increase mid-range since the Sub is now responsible for the bass, not a big deal for a single room setup but in my case my surrounds are located in the kitchen and dining room (and tuned with Trueplay). I opted to 'group' my Sonos Beam and Play 1 Surrounds together and 'group' the Sub and my original Play 3's together (which are in the TV cabinet with the Sonos Beam) so they all play together. This kept the bass higher on the remote surround Play 1's (better for music) when in the kitchen and dining. Not an ideal setup but it works for me, the added bonus the 3's giving some extra kick and separation to the Beam.At first I wasn’t dazzled by the bass output so I bumped the sub to it’s maximum +3 boost level. It boomed but didn’t rattle my chest like my Klipsch 12" sub in the basement home-theater, but it was still a big and welcome improvement. After the novelty past and I listening for a bit, I realized the sub was overpowering so I set it realistically, to compliment the other speakers rather than overpower them.Once I did that, the result was a joyful experience. There was a noticeable richness to the sound that lacked from my original setup and the ultra-lows resounded to my great satisfaction without being intrusive. As I continued to listen (volume in the middle between ¼ and ½ ) I really began to appreciate the Sonos Sub and became immersed in the newfound experience.Certain music like classical didn't utilize the Sub much. Then others it would politely, and assertively, add bass that would leave me smiling. For trance, EDM or dance it was adequate but not a night club thump, nor should it be lest my neighbors two houses away complain. So yes, the Sonos is a great addition to your listening experience for both movies and music. You will really appreciate it for movies. It has truly enriched my Sonos experience so it is a big yes for me once I got over the sticker shock. Is it worth the price? It is a big chunk of money. However, now that I’ve had it, It’d be hard to part with it; I can see that price could very well make it a ‘No’ from that sense. Did it completely change my Sonos listening experience…absolutely!**Update: I've had this woofer now for over a year and I would say this is life changing for the Sonos experience. I fall in love with it each and every day watching TV or listening to music. It is just so amazing **Hope you found my experience helpful and happy listening.Cheers.

Great response, beautiful design, easy to add and has just the right ummmmph!
It's large - and a bit pricey relative to what I attached it to (two Play 1's). However, it changed the room completely. Exceptional value especially to the acoustic experience. I am very happy with two Play 1's as left and right with the sub attached in our living room. Plays well - loudly and nicely.

Great looking sub
Sonos sub is great. Buy it for the sturdiness and looks. If you have a Sonos system and need more base then it is great. It is very expensive for a sub however and the sound is great, can’t tell if it’s any better

Totally Worth It
This is pricey but worth it. This has greatly improved the sound from my Sonos Beam. I didn’t notice it much until I tweaked the settings. From the Sonos app, go to settings > room settings > advanced audio > sub settings and the turn the sub level up. You can also use the EQ to turn up bass but turning the sub level up makes the greater difference. TV and, especially movies sound much better. Bass-heavy music now sounds as it should. Don’t hesitate but try to get it on sale if you can.
