That's exactly what I use it for. I just used lots of zip ties.

Q: Would this work for deer?

I would think it would work for deer also. We cover our tomatoes when it’s garden time, and our blackberries to keep birds off of them. We don’t have deer in the yard at all. If the netting is covering “it” it would deter any snacking by deer.

Not sure all I know is that it is sturdy
