32 Adorable and fun to Color Owl Designs 24 Large and 8 Medium size – printed on one side of the page
The media could not be loaded. I own a few coloring books by Thaneeya McArdle; however, this is the first one that I have that is dedicated to owl designs. The designs are so much fun to color. She has given each of them a different personality. I really enjoy the wide range – it seems like each and every one is different from the others. I enjoy coloring owls and have done a couple by Ms. McArdle (in books with a wide variety of subjects) so it is really special to get a book with 32 owl designs.I noted that the back of the page is now back in gray rather than colors. I prefer that as sometimes the color could show through to the front of the page depending on which medium I work with. The back of the page has inspiring quotes, journal lines and a design element or two you can color if you choose to do so.The publisher is, once again, printing 8 of the designs in less than full size. They have included a thumbnail color sample, some sample colors used in their design for inspiration and a few words to talk about the colors. It takes up the bottom 2.5 inches of the page. This information could be printed on a separate page or on the actual color sample page rather than on the coloring page.It seems like they gave some thought to it as in this book, it makes less of a difference than in other books. The designs can still be colored as there aren't tiny elements. I would still much rather color a full page designs. As the designs are not difficult to color, I won't detract any stars from my review. This is what I found while coloring in this book and testing the paper with my coloring medium.32 Fun to color Owl designs – 24 Full Size and 8 Medium SizePrinted one side of the page – back of page has soft gray design, journal lines and an inspiring quotePaper is medium weight, white, slightly rough and perforatedGlue BindingDesigns stop well before the perforationsAlcohol-based markers bleed through the pageWater-based markers leave colorful shadows and bleed through in very noticeable spots.Gel pens and India ink pens leave shadows on the back of the page and can spot through to the back of the page if applied heavily.Colored pencils work well with the paper. Both oil and wax based pencils provide good color, layer, and blend well using a blender stick. Hard lead pencils can dent through the page.I use a blotter page of card stock or heavyweight paper (two sheets) to keep seeping ink and dents from marring the pages below. I recommend using a blotter or that you remove pages before coloring.

Very Cute
I love the intricate and cute owls. Also love being able to remove a page easily. Would recommend use of fine-tipped markers. Just wish for fewer pages showing what a finished product might resemble and all the instructions—not needed. But it is a fun book that helps me relax.

My favorite so far
I just started into the stress free coloring. I’ve watched some of the videos of this artist and I’m hooked! This is the best book I’ve ordered so far

Very impressed! Lots of love put into Groovy Owls!
I bought this coloring book alongside half a dozen others as Christmas gifts for various friends/coworkers. Groovy Owls is hands down the best one! It includes a basic overview of shading, blending, patterning, and even color theory! There’s several examples of already colored owls, and each page includes a thoughtful quote, lines to take notes, and a scored edge to make them easier to remove from the book. This product is clearly a labor of love—it goes beyond what I expected, it’s thoughtful and friendly for beginners, and I’m completely confident my friend will love it. Highly recommended!

Lots of helpful guides/tips to assist you in making YOUR whimsical nocturnal creatures come to life!
Designs are actually simplistic in style; however, adding color to them makes them come alive with vibrant personalities. While the designs are not intricate, the small circles, squares, loops and teardrop shapes on most images need a steady hand and aforethought. The whimsical night creatures may have more appeal for children than the serious adult colorist who prefers complex challenges. I think; however, the book might not be good for young children because of the small niches of tear drop shapes etc . Perhaps ages 10 plus and up. The tips, guides etc. can be especially helpful for the budding artist or anyone that just wants a bit of guidance for grouping pleasing colors and blending them well. These educational tidbits seem more adult oriented, while the whimsical creatures might have more adolescent appeal.Pros:1. Fun and a bit challenging to color. The challenge being to put together creative color combinations that are pleasing to the eye; yet, complementary, vibrant and showing individual creative thinking.2. Fourteen pages of examples with stunning brilliant colors including tips on shading, blending, using colored pencils plain or with baby oil, color theory and color combinations. These pages are on slick, slightly glossy paper. In addition: 6 pages with designs that cover ¾ of the page. The bottom ¼ of the page is perforated both vertical and horizontal, and shows a small colored example, with the colors, used to the side. This makes for easy duplication if one wishes to have a guide for coloring.4. Nicely bound glue binding that stays open when coloring.5. Perforated pages with smooth quality white paper with a nice medium weight with a just a hint of texture. Hard core pencils leave a slightly sandpaper or grainy look.7. Delightful variety of whimsical owls to color...copy the artist's examples or better yet….do your own thing.8. The bottom of each page has the artist name, web site address, name of book and web site of publishing company.9. 8.5 x 10.75 x .25 inches. Nice size to grab and go. Just tuck into tote bag, backpack or hand-carry.10. Most any coloring tool will work, and colored pencils are especially nice. Gel pens might not be the best choice for some of the small circles or teardrops, and bleed-through will occur. (picture #2)Cons:1. While each design is indeed “printed on one side only,” the back of each coloring page has a quote, a small owl image and a flower to color if one chooses to do so. There are also lines on which to write your thoughts. While these are printed in light gray, if one wishes to color these small images using markers or gel pens, bleed-through will occur.2. Some of the perforations are extremely close to the spine, while others are approximately ¼” away from the spine. In fact, in the middle of my book, the perforation is only 2mm away from the spine making removal difficult.

Pretty much have most all of Ms
Pretty much have most all of Ms. McArdles books for adult coloring. Fun and whimsical just like I hope people speak of me! ;)I love that the designs have true coloring space and are not so intricate that it becomes less than relaxing to complete. Always feel accomplished and relaxed with her books. AND ITS FUN!!!!

Groovy Owls
Owls are one of my most favorite things to draw, paint or color. The Groovy Owls Coloring Book is full of fantastic owls drawings to let your coloring imagination go crazy. There are pages to help choose colors or you can choose your own. Thaneeya McArdle does an excellent job of drawing these adorable owls for all of us to color.

Wonderful fun!
I love this book! The paper is on the thin side so I would not recommend any wet medium. I use gel pens and my Prismacolor Premier and they turn out nicely. A fun, whimsical book. Highly recommend. I did try Zig clean co,or markers and the paper balled up, the Fabre Castellated Pitt brush pens are just ok.
