Western Cowboy 3 Piece Buckle Set Engraved Longhorn Fits 1.5 inch 40mm Belts

This is a very good looking western hardware buckle set. Unfortunately, my belt is made of very thick leather and the hardware tip would not fit over the tip of my belt. For reference, I took a digital caliper and measured my belt thickness as .207 inches with a width of 1.487 inches. Yes - it's a thick (American made) belt. The hardware tip didn't even come close to fitting over my belt tip. I then tried putting the hardware tip on a thinner Carhart belt I had (the leather on that belt is .151 inches thick and it's 1.41 wide). The hardware tip would fit over the tip of that belt but I couldn't slide it all the way back because the belt was a little too wide. Based on this experience I would say that if your belt is made of any leather thicker than about .155 inches you won't be able to use the tip. And if your belt is any wider than about 1.36 inches you will probably need to trim a little leather off the sides in order to use the hardware tip. Other than my inability to use the tip (which I really wanted to use), the hardware looks very good and I would have given it 5 stars if the hardware tip would have accommodated a wider and thicker belt.

The bucks has some weight to it. The square belt holder was a bit oversize.The shine on it makes it look like a coat of clear coat. I tried rubbing it with a scour pad and the bronze tinge came off and was silver . I think it gets the point across that its "Western" style but its not going to win you any belt buckle competitions.

...the screws that hold the belt to the buckle were missing. I had to use rivets of my own.
