KUJOBUY 12X2 Inch 12V Flexible Electroluminescent Tape Panel Backlight Decorations Light with Inverter Universal Multi Use for Home Workplace Camera Lightbox (Green)

I used this EL Tape to replace the LCD Backlight on an old Radio Shack Scanner. I removed the old panel from behind the LCD. It had two soldered connections and just slid in behind the LCD. Once out, I traced its outline on the back of the EL Tape, keeping the connector in the same place as the original. Then simply cut it out with scissors. I didn't end up needing the power inverter that came with it. I soldered the leads to the existing power pins in the radio for the original light strip. Once assembled, it worked just fine. The inverter did come in handy to test that the strip still worked after I had cut it. I also laminated the finished piece with clear packing tape to seal and insulate cut edges. There were lots of YouTube instruction videos showing how to work with Flexible Electroluminescent Tape for various projects . I'm completely pleased with the results.

Showed up folded in package, immediately shorted out when hooked up where it was bent.

This EL panel arrived in a bag, not a box. So of course the item would have a crease.The panel will not light up due to the shipping damage.On a good note, the textured surface gives this panel a nicer feel than many others on the market.The end where the wires connect to the panel appear to be filled with resin which is great. I assume this would last much longer than many other cheap brands.I really wish I could power it up and test out the luminosity.The 12v transformer is absolutely huge! Almost twice as big as other brands I’ve purchased. This may not be an issue for some people.

Packages arrived with the EL panel and inverter, but no way to connect it to a power source. Evidently you need to buy or build it separately. I did have one from a separate purchase and was able to confirm the panel does work at least.
