Good picture quality and stability, especially for the price, app is not mandatory for PC
This is way better than the older generic USB microscope, mostly because of the significantly better stand and increased resolution. It also seems to have higher depth of focus, with the old one I could barely get two whole sides of a QFN64 chip to be in focus at the same time. As for the stand, you can indeed get a much better, very stable aluminium stand with a geared height adjustment for both the old and the new microscope, but this only works for looking at things straight from above. This is why the improved metal stand for this microscope is such a big feature - it is at least somewhat stable and allows inspecting things like a phonograph stylus from different angles without having to prop it up on something. The generic stand of other USB microscopes with the plastic claw and two ball joints is absolutely miserable in comparison. So with this microscope you can probably save on the separate upgraded stand, which is a similar cost to the actual device. The phone app works OK, but I find it more comfortable to use with a computer (works as an ordinary webcam). The focus ring is also less annoying than in the old one. Also be aware that the clear plastic funnel can be removed and reattached (not just the cap IN the funnel) if you want to get the microscope closer to the object and there is something in the way. You can use this microscope for coins, post stamps, electronics, and assessing the condition of plant parts, record player styli and shaver blades (included the comparison of old electric shaver blades and brand new ones - there is an immediately visible difference), repairing scratches in vinyl records that skip, among other things. I do recommend the free software called S-Eye, that allows the image to be flipped back to the real orientation, unlike Windows 11 Camera app that only used to have that function. This makes doing actual work on the observed object much easier.

Nice, portable microscope but the user Apps need work.
This is a nice little magnifier and versatile as it can connect to iOS, Android and also PC’s. However, loses a star as many of the apps you need to use with it don’t support the built in Zoom buttons (a feature you really want). It’s well built and a good value - but needs better App support.

Good Milliscope...
Good USB "microscope camera" for Windows PC. This works good for zoomed-in images. Yes the 1000x is a little exaggerated, but for the price, it works good. Some of the newer cell phones have good macro lenses/cameras but this is a tiny fraction of the price. The stand is functional and the light is ok. This is not an actual microscope but is a handy milliscope for getting a good look at things that a magnifying glass won't get very well.

Excellent digital microscope stand.
I am happy with this purchase. The digital microscope stand is a nice aluminum build, with a heavier aluminum base that is solid and steady. The focus adjustment is fine enough, and I get nice clear and well focused pictures. It breaks down nicely, to fit in protective case with the microscope and cable. I have also cut thin rubber padding of different colors (Drawer Liner) to fit the base for different background colors to bring better contrasts for detail of the subject at hand. I am getting good use from this microscope stand.

Resolution only 640x480
Despite being advertised as 3840x2160P, this camera is only 640x480 pixels, and bigger pictures are just that small one upscaled without added information. Unacceptably small, as I can do better magnification with digital zoom on my iPhone. It has a WiFi base station built in, meaning that to connect to it you have to abandon your WiFi internet connection and connect to its WiFi station instead. Then you have to switch back to real WiFi if you want to upload your photo somewhere.Mainly, this is a terrible bait and switch and kind of a pain to use. Still, 3 stars because it is about average in performance, average in price, and the stand is decent. That said, I'm returning it. Probably I will get a macro lens for my phone instead.

Far Exceeds Expectations for Given Price
The images this little microscope provides are incredible. Given its low price, I did not think it would work too well, but I was wrong. It's not perfect: sometimes the scope connects effortlessly to my phone or tablet, sometimes it doesn't and I have to reconnect it. No biggie there. Now, it says "4K" resolution. Wellllllllll... there are several resolution choices, from 640X480 up to 3840X2160 (4K). After carefully testing and comparing images, I can say that the 4K setting provides a VERY SLIGHT improvement over the lowest resolution. Definitely not what one would hope. In other words, the resolution settings are kind of BS. The focuser can also be a bit finicky. Please note that depending on the objective lens's distance from the subject, there are often two (sometimes three???) places where you can get a sharp image: one low power, and the other close up and much more magnified. Does it really let you see things 1000X bigger? Welllllllll... there's definitely some sleight of hand in that claim. Around 100X (enough power to see all kinds of weird stuff) is more like it, but that number is a lazy guess.Still, I give it five stars. Why? Because it opens up fascinating, satisfying, and sometimes terrifying views of reality; views that are normally impossible, including with traditional microscopes. And it does so at such a low price that you won't have a heart attack when your five-year-old (or your forty-year-old self) drops it in water and destroys it.
