Looks nice but did not fit

I had high hopes for this as a replacement for the soap holder on my shower bar that broke. It doesn't fit over the piece you attach to the bar. I had to set it above it, so it tilts. My bad in that I didn't realize this was plastic and not sturdy plastic. Saying all that, I got it to work enough that I can use it and it is doing its job.

For some time my wife and I have wanted something like this. So I ordered it. My initial response was that it seemed better than expected because some reviews called the plastic it is made from incredibly thin and breakable and I was pleased to find it far better than that. It is maybe 1/8" thick. Could it be better? Sure, it could be thicker or better it could be made out of chrome plated metal or better still stainless steel instead of fake chrome covered ABS plastic. But is it likely good enough for a soap dish in a shower. Don't expect a perfect chromed finish and don't plan on putting anything too heavy on it or pulling on it and you should be ok.However, be careful and inspect how the 2 pieces fit together and how it works. I almost sent it back until I realized that I was not paying attention. The white plastic piece that snaps (with a fair amount of effort) to the rod has a slot cut in it. The dish portion has a raised metal ridge molded into it. If your first impression is that you want to slide the ridge into the slot, you may be disappointed since the thing may slide down the rod easily. But you can also rotate things so that the ridge does NOT go into the slot and this will cause a significantly tighter fit. In my case, it was still a bit too loose for my liking. So I put a couple wraps of black electrician tape on the rod and slid the white piece over that before adding the dish piece. This took up the extra space and now it is decently secure.Now my wife and I can both have dishes for our soap.

Works perfect for my European shower! Easy to install, fits perfectly. Doesn't look plastic when it's snapped on, looks like it's part of the shower. Great buy, good price!!

Flimsy. Will not fit standard claw foot tub. Returned immediately. Don’t waste your time.

Our plastic soap dish that was attached to our shower pole snapped off. This one looks beautiful and couldn't have been easier to install. We love it.

well, basic item, so what can one person say... well, it attached to pipe, perfect, holds the soap in place... doing it's job.... can't ask for more.... i can also understand why other reviews mentioned using something like electrical tape around the pipe for a tighter fit to keep it in place.. but now.. no issues..

This may not be a justified negative review, because this soap holder just didn't fit the faucet that I needed it for. It was too small and resulted in a scratched up faucet. Putting that aside, it seems cheaply made and I doubt that it would hold up. The plastic feels cheap and would probably break easily.
