Pre scarified for convenience
This packet of lotus seeds had 15 seeds in it. They come pre scarified for convenience, so they are ready to follow the directions and drop into some water.They are a good price point for what you get. The instructions are thorough and easy to understand.However, I feel it would be best for them to not come pre scarified, because that can allow the embryos inside the seeds to eventually dry out if they are not all used. Lotus seeds will last for well over a decade if they are not scarified. When you are ready to use one, use sand paper or a nail file and file away at the end that is not pointed until you just barely see some white of the seed embryo inside.Not pre scarifying gives you the chance to only start just a few seeds at a time. As long as they are plump, round seeds and stored well, they will store for a very long time.It's a good sign that 6 of the 7 of these that I started sank to the bottom of the container I'm soaking them in. One is floating, but it most likely just has a little air bubble trapped inside and since the seed is plump, it will probably germinate well.I'm renovating my koi pond this season in zone 6b, and I used to have a lotus growing in it years ago that died for some reason after many years of proper care, so I am looking forward to these growing. We will see how cold hardy they really are come winter.

Easy to sprout
They sprouted within days!! I think only one didn’t, so I’m pleased. Now to see how resilient they are once potted.

Only TEN seeds came in the packet. It was advertised as having 15.

Description says you get 15 seeds but I only get 10 in the package. The seeds did germinate.
