PHOTOGRAPHS

I was in photography school when a fellow student who in my opinion was one of the better photographers mentioned Annie Leibovitz’s name. I worked at a borders bookstore as a barista and browsed her Annie Leibovitz’s photographs. Anyway in this day and age I could have took the book out of the library and took pictures of the pictures on my cell phone. Anyway I decided to buy a collection I have already seen and I would like to think support the photographer herself. It’s a little more than I would usually spend on a book but I enjoy the content and in my opinion think it’s worth the price

this is a fabulous book. i owned it 20 yrs. ago, and my daughter asked me for a copy. it is what you would call a "coffee table book", but i looked at and admired the photos often. my dog eventually chewed it up. i bought the new copy for my daughter as a gift, and i still look at it when i am there. annie leibovitz had a way of getting people to do things, that maybe they would not have. often, it was a metaphor for something about their lives (case in point, yoko ono and a nude john lennon). i would buy this again, and highly recommend it to anyone interested in photos of famous people and/or great photography.

Wow! wonderful book, above my expectations. First, I got to see some of my childhood heroes (Sylvester Stallone) as they were back in the 80s, it worth it only for this. It also contains some famous photos (John Lennon and Yoko Ono). Second, it is a "real" photo book. Big photos, minimal text, nice arrangements. Third, I liked her style very much. The are all kind of pictures, studio and outdoors, staged and neutral. Definitely you would like it in your collection.

I love her and her work so I buy all her books! This one is a fun one. A throwback to the 80’s! Love it

In comparison to her more mature work, these seem less nuanced and a tad dated. It is clear to me though, how much "knowing" (or being familiar with) the subject of the portrait (as in a famous person) influences and seduces how we SEE the picture. Her pictures of more obscure subjects really let the viewer see the "portrait", more than the "subject".

I was hoping this book would explain what went into Anne's thinking (her inspiration) for her photographs. They are great photographs, posed brilliantly but I was looking for a bit more from this book.

Very nice book - a few faces marked up with pen (who would do that) but mostly very nice and in good shape.

Ordinato questo libro, avevo qualche perplessità sul fatto che arrivasse dall'estero e fosse usato. Ho comunque voluto provare e devo dire sono rimasta molto soddisfatta in quanto, anche se si vede che non è un libro fresco di stampa, è in condizioni perfette, senza scritte o altro e le immagini sono stupende.

Il libro è straordinario, sebbene usato tenuto in condizioni più che accettabili.Per quanto riguarda la spedizione é stato inviato in una carta plastificata leggerissima e considerato che trattasi di libro fotografico da collezione, ritengo ci debba essere più cura.La consegna é avvenuta con due giorni di ritardo rispetto al giorno previsto e mi è stato messo dal corriere con forzatura e piegandolo nella cassetta della posta.Ciò è stato possibile poiché il libro non ha una rilegatura rigida, ma libri d'arte non vanno trattati assolutamente così!
