Sunco Ultra Thin Recessed Ceiling Lights
These lights are the easiest, new install recessed lights I have ever installed and I have installed several different types, from the full can, mounted to the joist type, to the electric box mounted to the light type, to these, with a free floating electric box. What I love about these is you do not have to worry about the location of the ceiling joist because the insert is only 1/2” deep, meaning that if you cut your hole and hit a joist the light will still go into the cut out, unbothered by the joist. You can pull the wire out of the ceiling and splice your wires inside the box and push the box into the ceiling and then connect your light to the pigtail from the box, then rotate the light insert around the hole until the two light clips clear the joist and presto, the spring tension on the light will pull the light up flush to the ceiling. I put 6 of these in the recessed opening, in my kitchen, that previously held 4 duel 4’ tube fluorescent lights. I ran into a joist on all 6 of the lights, but no problem, the job came out perfect, with many compliments from neighbors and family. I used a 6” hole saw, purchased here on Amazon. On some of the lights I had to rotate the light fixture around until I located the position where the light would pull up snug to the ceiling. The beauty of these lights is that you can locate exactly where you want each light, then mark the location and drill the hole, without worrying where the ceiling joists are located, which allows you to perfectly center your light, or light cluster. I used these 6 lights to replace eight 40Watt fluorescent tubes and the light was actually brighter from these lights than the tubes were putting out. One last comment, the electric box is pretty small, suitable for two 14 gauge wires, usually one in and one out to the next light, but some situations will dictate more wires, which can be challenging. In one box I needed to splice four 14 gauge wires, which would normally not be doable, but I managed to do it and still put the lid on the box tightly, here’s how, I took the four wires and cut them to exactly the same length, stripped off the jacket, just enough to keep the jacket inside the box, stripped off about 1/2” of the insulation on the eight individual wires, tried them tight together with a zip-tie to keep the ends flush, inserted them inside the box and wire nutted the eight white wires together and then did the same to the black wires. All the wire and wire nuts should fit flush inside the electric box opening. Good luck on your lighting project.

Reliable
I have literally installed hundreds of these in the last few years. I have never received a call back or had any failures to date. Seems to be of decent quality and very easy to install

Very nice lights
The lights came packaged, easily installed. They sit in ceiling easily. Easy to remove if you have to paint ceiling.I'd definitely buy again if I need more in the future.

Great support, easy to install, buzzes a little.
Fairly happy with these lights. I installed them in some floating shelves I made during a room remodel. The good: Very easy to install, the hole size is pretty forgiving due to the size of the ring around the light. The transformers are easy to wire up. One of the six was defective out of the box, only putting out half the light as the rest. A call to Sunco put me in touch with an actual person who immediately sent out a replacement which works wonderfully. The bad: One of them was defective right out of the box. They took care of it quickly however. I installed these lights on a dimmer and there is a buzzing noise coming from several of the transformers on anything but full brightness. I tried both a Kasa 220 dimmer and a Phillips mechanical dimmer and it buzzes the same. If you have OCD like me you might want to steer clear. It puts off no heat so I might wrap it in something heavy to see if that quiets it.5/1/21 Update: After contacting their tech support regarding the audio level of the transformers they verified the dimmer switch I was using was compatible and had no further troubleshooting steps. They sent me four replacements. I have now paid for 6 lights and received 5 replacements. I downloaded an audio level (dB) app and tested all nine of the transformers I received that weren't defective in the same location. On the loudest setting (the dimmer was about half way) the decibel level ranged from 37dB to 50dB. For reference 35dB is about the quiet of nighttime 45dB is about as loud as a refrigerator hum, and 50dB is typically compared to a quiet conversation, so quite a sound range covered by these transformers. If you're installing in a ceiling you likely won't hear the sound at all as it will be radiated in the attic, however installing so close to my ears in a shelf directly above my head its too loud. Very versatile lights and inexpensive, but if noise will be an issue, maybe look elsewhere.

Love these things!!
Easy to install and light output is impressive! Honestly they need a dimmer, so I installed one. Hopefully they'll last for many years

3 yrs going and the second one of 6 have died
6 pack, 4 inch, 5000k. We bought and installed these lights in fall of 2019 in our kitchen. Great lighting, very bright. Install was very easy, they are low profile so fit under a joist in the drywall ceiling. It says they have a 7 yr warranty, and last 50,000 hours. We have been running these for 3 yrs probably totaling 13,000-14,000 hours so far. The second of 6 lights just went out, the first went out about a year ago. If they really are warranted for 7 yrs I am hoping the seller will contact me and replace the two that have now gone out. Here’s hoping!

Looks great after installation. I hope they last
I installed six of these recessed lights in our garage. Most of the work was locating and cutting six holes and then fishing the wire from the light switch to these lights. Connecting these lights was pretty straight forward. They don't use the ground wire and the junction box and light is made of plastic.
