Great product

Husband is very happy with this purchase. He couldn’t find these in stores in our area.

Just get it! Worth 10 times the price

The media could not be loaded. 1mm stepdown and 1300mm/min was the setting I used on cedar. As you can see it did a bang up job.

Cut walnut well on my Shapeoko CNC machine

I'll start by saying they lost a star because one of the pieces was broken out of the box. I can't give 5 stars to poor quality control. They were fulfilled by Amazon but I can't imagine one broke sitting on the shelf in some Amazon warehouse. I could definitely have returned them and gotten a replacement but I needed to use them and didn't want to hassle with that if the remaining 9 worked, and they did.On to using them. I'm cutting a text outline and needed a 1/8" bit that could do cutouts on 3/4" walnut without burning or breaking and these 2 flute upcut bits worked great. They ejected the majority of the chips even on the deeper cuts leaving the cutting path clear for the next pass. Swarf in the cutting path is a big contributor to burning and bits breaking so chip ejection is key, and these did a great job. They were also sharp enough that I had no tool marks or tear out on the edges that needed cleanup. When these get dull I'll buy another set, hopefully of 10 and not 9 and be happy with them.

Waaaay better bits for a CNC machine than the standard RotoZip bits I've been using.

So I built a very cheap and loose CNC machine using a RotoZip as a router. I was originally very disappointed with its performance. After swapping the spiral cutting bit made for the RotoZip with one of these HQMaster router bits, I feel much, much better. The old RZ cutting bit could not run properly even at 100 mm/min with a layer depth of just half a millimeter. My CNC uses small NEMA 17 86 oz/in motors with 5/16 18 tpi threaded rod for the axes (yes, cheap build). It was hard for the motors to push the bit even at this slow speed and very low cutting depth and it skipped lots of steps. When I tried this HQMaster bit I got it to go at 300 mm/min with a layer depth of 2 mm and it was like going through butter (in 19 mm pine board), without the X/Y motors skipping. It can probably do even better (faster and larger layer depth) but that's as far as I've pushed it this evening. Still, it's way, way ahead of the normal RotoZip cutting bit. Additionally, when it cuts, it barely makes any more sound than the router normally makes spinning freely, the old RZ bit was very loud when it was (barely) cutting. I even had an accidental command move this HQ bit cutting at a depth of about 10 mm through the pine, and though the motors were skipping at 300 mm/min, it still went through the wood a few centimeters before I could eStop the machine. Getting 10 bits at this price is amazing because the normal (and much less capable) RotoZip bits are around $8 at Home Depot. The only advantage with the standard RZ bits is that they are much longer, I can get about 20 mm of total cutting depth with these HQ bits, which is enough for my purposes. Now, my cheapo CNC can actually be used to make better parts for itself. I'm very glad I made this purchase, these bits make all the difference in the world for my CNC.

Much longer lasting than the Dremel brand

I started using the Dremel 561 multipurpose cutting tool to cut away treated deck board to expose square head stainless deck screws for removal. The 561 bit didn’t last very long. About 60 holes before it was too dull to cut.I purchased these mostly for the quantity (10) thinking I might be able to get through the entire deck with 10. So far, I’m still on the first bit and it has already done 4x what the 561 did and there’s still a cutting edge. Very happy.Note: the Dremel 561 came as a kit with a depth gauge and cutting shield. These bits are “shorter” than the Dremel brand and my not work effectively if used with the Dremel depth gauge attached. I’m not using it so they work for my application.

instead it looks more like "cones". I did have some of the previous ...

Edit #2: It has been almost a year since I purchased 60 bits - I was able to make the bits last but I went through a lot of bits before I had it figured out. I have now changed the review to 3 stars from 1 star. I use these bits to cut cast acrylic. Instead of doing multiple passes, I ended up going with a very slow single pass. I would then do a fast final clean up pass.My settings for 0.4" thick acrylic: Ramp in, 6 IPM plunge (Z-axis), 12 IPM cutting speed, 18,500 RPM. Final pass: 15 IPM plunge, 30 IPM cutting speed, 15,000 RPM.Doing it as 1 pass + 1 fast clean up pass actually cut down my machining time by quite a lot. I'm thankful for that but it makes me wonder what I could have done with the original bits in terms of machining time. I'm going to buy a couple more and see how they fare. I think that the single pass helps with the deflection since it isn't cutting only at the tip. The deflection was probably what was causing the bits to break so fast. With the above settings I use the bit for about 2 hours, then switch to a new bit with a new job. Doing it this way I didn't have any bits that broke in the middle of a job. I might use old bits if I don't care too much about surface finish and just need something cut to rough size. We'll see if the bits I'm about to order work with my new expectations.- old review below -Edit: Changed to 1 star out of frustration with trying to use these bits - gone through 20+ bits so far, for the old version bits I would be on my 2nd or 3rd bit. Original review below.I've been using these bits to cut through ~0.4" thick cast acrylic using a CNC router. They worked well until I needed to get more bits - they changed/simplified the cutter geometry recently. The change in geometry seems to have made the actual thickness of the bit material thinner if that makes sense. There isn't a visible "edge", instead it looks more like "cones".I did have some of the previous bits break but typically the bit would break because they had gotten dull. I would usually have a bit be able to last through 5+ hours of constant cutting. Used the same settings as I had done before and I broke a bit in less than a minute. I started tweaking the settings to see if I could actually use the new bits and I broke 5 bits in the process. Ended up having to do lighter passes (from 0.125" to 0.09") and slightly higher RPM got a bit to last almost an hour but it still ended up breaking. I used to do 3 passes at 0.125", had to go to 4 passes at 0.09" for these new bits and am currently trying 5 passes and seeing how far I can get with that. Current settings are 0.075" cut depth, 25 IPM, 18000 RPM.If you look closely at the attached picture, the bit on left has a visible "edge" and looks more parallel. The bit on the left is an old/used bit. The one on the right is new bit with the cutting edge at the bottom of the "cone" and the bit has visible tapers when look at it from the side.It would have been nice to know that the cutter geometry changed before I ordered 60 bits. Previous bits were a great deal for me. Now it seems like I need about 5 bits to finish 1 job - just not worth the time. Seems like a bait and switch. The old bits were much better value.
