Not intuitive to learn how to play but once you get it it really is fun!
Okay people. There are hardly any resources online how to play this. There is one video on you tube and it’s from the makers of the game and they use terms without explaining in layman’s terms what they mean! The set up is easy to get from the directions.“The trick” is basically the discard pileWhen you “take the trick” it means you stash it to the side and at the end you count the number of gold cards you have. Just the number of cards- they don’t have different values.Cards 5, 7, 9 have special instructions written on them. You have to make a play and always have three cards before your turn is up.To make a play, you’re looking to make two of a kind or three of a kind or even four of a kind if you’re lucky. You have to play a card higher than the one that is face up next to the draw pile. Let’s say there’s a 6 face up. If you have a 6, play it and now you have two of a kind which gives you two points and you move your cowboy two spots. Refill your hand from the draw pile so you have three and your turn is over. You can’t always move your cowboy when you make a play. Example there’s a 6 face up and you have a 10. You play it but nothing happens. You have to play one of the combos listed in the directions that moves you spots. If a 6 was down and you have two 6’s in your hand you play them and get to move three spots because you made three of a kind.If you can’t discard aka play anything (because your cards are lower than what is on the top of the discard pile aka the trick) the previous player takes the trick and moves you back two spaces. If you have the cards like rattlesnake, dynamite etc. you play them (not on the discard pile/trick pile, but just off to the side face up) and you use it to set someone else back. I think this counts as your discard option. So if you couldn’t put anything on the trick pile but you had a special card to set someone else back, that still counts as your move. Play it, move someone back, refill your hand, and your turn is over.Your goal is to get your cowboy across the finish line.Once someone crosses, it’s over. Then you all check your trick pile for gold. Each gold card gets you one spot forward. If anyone surpasses the person who crossed the line, they would be the new winner. Example someone makes it right passed spot 12, but someone else had three gold cards, they end up passing the person that went across the line and they are the actual winner.Since you only have three cards in your hand the turns go pretty quick.Hope this helps!!!!!!

Fun game
Slight learning curve, but really fun. Several different age groups enjoyed. Really cool to have its own playlist to listen while you play

Great Card Game
Definitely one of the best new card games I’ve played. I love the simplicity and scoring mechanics. I love playing the “Ballard” off YouTube while I set up the game - everyone laughs. The only downside is it only allows for 6 players. I suppose having 8 players would make it tough to reach the discard/draw pile.Nevertheless great game!

Yeehaw! This game is fun
We brought this game home to play with my niece and nephew ( 5 & & years-old ) and they had a blast. Later we all played with my parents ( late 60s ) and we couldn't stop playing the game. Now both my parents AND my niece and nephew have gotten their own game to have and play at home. This game is great!
