Q: Does this cause the bug to disintegrate?

Depends on bugs size but it most flying insects the size of house fly or bigger will be burned to a crisp anything smaller at times may pass thru the net but when contact is made it will certainly disintegrate said bug hope this answers your question

Q: How long does charge last? I charged overnite and getting nothing .

The one we received had a charge right out of the box. We charged overnight but don't yet know how long the charge lasts.

Q: Has anybody's worked over one year?

Mine is still going strong after about 8 years. I have the 3500V medium size racket that uses replaceable or rechargeable AA batteries. Either type lasts a long time in the zapper. I'm going to get an additional, mini size 4000V model (more Voltage is better, right?), which will be easier to use in interior areas like the kitchen and adjacent electronics area that are full of equipment, cabinets, furniture etc. to avoid while on the hunt. The larger old zapper will stay in the bedroom. I love these things. Every "ZAP" is a satisfying payoff of sorts, that other folks feel as well -- honest. I may be mentally ill (which is true), but at least I'm not alone :-). It's a very cool product.

It is big enough for everyday use, but I would've preferred the regular one, as it has a longer handle.
