The accumulated time of this energy cost meter is not a clock that is always ticking. The energy socket only starts timing when the power of the connected load exceeds 2W. When the load is in standby, the power is very small and negligible. Time display range: 0-9999 days

Q: will this measure how much it’s costing me when my tv is on standby

I notice that it has a 'cost alarm' however since it does not know the price that you are paying then you would have to programme it. Better to just reset it with the stick they include then connect it with the device you are monitorring. After an hour you will have the Kw.hr and multiply this by the price you are paying per Kw.hr from your monthly bill. This is the cost per hour of being on standby.
