A very versatile tool
I have owned this Utility Patcher before and lost it while refinishing a table. I couldn't remember what its common use was. (applying glaze around glass windows) So when I stumbled upon it, I was tickled. Its a great hand tool for doing tight jobs and jobs you don't want to apply extra nail filler etc. to. I really like it and bought two just in case I lost it again!

Not the same
We have a older patcher that everyone wanted to use so I thought I would buy more as a early Christmas present. This is a stamped out piece of metal which is okay with me but the problem I have is that when you work with metal ( my job was a tinsmith) there will be sharp edges on the opposite side of the cut. A wire brush can easily take care of that but why should a customer need to clean up the piece that they bought. My wife loves her older patcher and when I gave her the new one, she held it in her hand and said that she didn't like the feel of the sharp edge so I needed to do something or send them back. Working with metal, I knew what to do but there are people who knowledge is limited. I figure that this problem is a cost measure to cheapen it up. The tool feels like it is made with a lighter material and it take a person to remove the burr unless you could use a tumbler to remove that burr. Like any decent tool, it needs to fit the hand properly in order be effective. This is a tool that should be in everyone's toolbox because it is narrow than most putty knives and has a duel purpose because of the pointed end.

Very handy tool for quick patching
I have used this product for years until it was lost. It is the best tool for quick wall patching. It cleans up easily and I keep it with my kit of essential home tools

Best tool ever!
I had a hard time finding this to replace one I'd been using for years, so I was delighted to find it on amazon. I use it for drywall patching, prying out old caulk, etc. It's a good size and very easy to hold and use.

Has sharp edges
Careful how you handle this tool as some edge are sharp and can cut.

Don't make them like they used to
I've always had a 4045 utility patch, but I lost mine. Luckily my father also had one with its model number stamped on it. 20 years old, stamped "Made in Union, NJ." I ordered a new one. What a flimsy piece of Chinese junk. My Dad's old one is stiff, straight, and still has it's point. The new one came misaligned and with a blunted point. First time I tried to use it with modest pressure it folded right in half. Find a vintage one, pay $15.00, and get something that will last.
